Getting Ready to Start with a New NDIS Provider

A little preparation can make starting support easier.

Before beginning with a new provider, think about what you want them to understand about you.

Useful information may include your goals, routines, communication preferences, support requirements, accessibility needs, important risks, emergency contacts and what good support looks like to you.

Ask questions too

Starting with a provider is not only about giving them information.

Ask how services work, who will provide support, how scheduling works, what happens if something changes, how costs are managed and who to contact if you have a concern.

Understand your service agreement

Make sure you understand the supports being agreed, prices, responsibilities, cancellations and how services can be changed or ended.

Share information thoughtfully

Provide information that is relevant to safe and appropriate support. Ask why information is needed if you are unsure.
