How to Choose an NDIS Provider

Choosing a provider that is right for you

The right provider is not simply the one offering the service you need. You should also feel comfortable with how they communicate, how they listen to you and whether their approach fits your goals and preferences.

Key points

Before choosing a provider, consider what support you need, where and when you need it, what matters to you and how you prefer to communicate.

Research providers and ask questions before agreeing to services.

If your funding is NDIA-managed, you must use registered providers for that funding. People with plan-managed or self-managed funding can usually choose registered or unregistered providers, although some supports must be delivered by registered providers.

Questions worth asking

Ask what services the provider offers, whether they have capacity, how workers are selected, how changes are managed, what the costs are, how complaints are handled and how you can change or end services.

You can also discuss what good support looks like to you.

What this means for you

Choosing a provider is your decision. Take the time you need to ask questions and decide whether the provider feels right for you.
