Participant Rights
Your Rights
Your support should respect your rights, choices and individuality.
At Finding Path, we believe understanding your rights is an important part of receiving safe and respectful support.
As an NDIS participant, your support should promote and respect your legal and human rights and support you to exercise informed choice and control.
You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect
Your privacy, dignity, culture, values, beliefs and individuality should be respected.
You have the right to make choices
You should be involved in decisions about your supports and given information you can understand.
You should have time to consider your options and seek advice if you need it.
You have the right to independence
Support should recognise your abilities and help you maintain or develop independence wherever appropriate.
You have the right to privacy
You should understand what personal information is being collected about you, why it is needed and how it is handled.
You have the right to communicate in a way that works for you
Information about your supports should be provided in a language, communication method and terms you are most likely to understand.
You have the right to your culture, values and beliefs
Your culture, diversity, values and beliefs should be respected and sensitively supported.
You have the right to feel safe
You have the right to receive support that respects your safety and protects you from violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination.
You have the right to speak up
You can ask questions, give feedback or make a complaint.
Making a complaint will not negatively affect your right to receive respectful support from Finding Path.
You may ask someone you trust or an advocate to support you.
You can also contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission independently.
